I AM WHO I AM

The moment I start performing for the room... shrinking, exaggerating, molding, managing how I'm perceived... I hand my power over. I literally give it away.

I AM WHO I AM

I've been sitting here this morning mentally preparing to spend the weekend with my in laws and extended family.

Not dreading it exactly... just aware of the pressure that comes with it. They're good people.

And with any family, there's an energy... unspoken, rarely direct... that you feel the moment you walk in a room. A quiet judgement being rendered...

… and already I feel that familiar urge rising. To perform and pretend.

Like my mind and body are already primed to walk in slightly more agreeable than I actually am.

A little more polished.

A little more of whatever version of me makes the room comfortable.

Not lying exactly... (a soft way of saying lying)

But really, it is Performing.

Most of us know this feeling. We do it at work, at family dinners, at church, in meetings. We shape shift so naturally we almost don't register it.

This morning in my study of Moses... I saw this same dilemna in his excuses.

Who am I? What if they don't believe me? I'm not even a good speaker.

God didn't debate him. Didn't reassure him with a highlight reel. Didn't tell him it would be easy...

He just said... "I AM WHO I AM." Now go.

All authority starts here. Unapologetic ownership of truth, of who and where we are.

The moment I start performing for the room... shrinking, exaggerating, molding, managing how I'm perceived... I hand my power over. I literally give it away.

True power... God's own power... comes from unapologetically standing in the truth of who you are. Liked or unliked. Accepted or judged.

Stay in the fire and never stop progressing,

Daily action

Find one moment today where you'd normally shrink or perform... and just stand. Breathe. Be. No explanation needed. No smiling through it, no pretending, no fixing. Just sit in that moment with nothing to accomplish but being you.
