Get The Daily Gain
PRESENCE > Service
A reflection on how constant mental motion can pull you away from the people and moments that matter most.

I sat down to do my study this morning…
and my brain would not stop running through every single thing I needed to get done today.
I was there… but I wasn’t really there.
Ironically enough… I read the story of a woman named Martha.
Jesus shows up at her house. Like… actually shows up. In person. And instead of being with Him… Martha is running around stressing about the food and the house and making sure everything looks right.
Her sister Mary just sat down at His feet and listened.
Martha got frustrated. She went to Jesus and basically said… are you serious right now? Tell her to come help me.
And Jesus looked at her and said… Martha. You are worried about too many things. Only one thing is necessary.
This is what hit me…
Martha wasn’t doing anything wrong on paper. She was serving. She had good intentions. She wanted things to be right.
But she missed the moment.
And I do the same thing all the damn time.
I come home from work and my brain is still at the office… still running the list… still trying to get to the next thing.
My wife reminded me the other day… Those boys wait all day for you to walk through that door.
Not for what I produce. Not for what I provide. Just for me to be there… with them!
Stay in the fire and never stop progressing. — Braven Grant
DAILY GAIN
Tonight when you walk through the door… leave everything else outside. Just be there like it is the only place you were ever supposed to be.
